I couldn't help thinking about George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice, which I'm intensely reading at the moment, and HBO's Game of Thrones while looking at the Mulleavy sisters' latest creations for Rodarte. They were actually influenced by Dungeons & Dragons and not Martin's books. Other than medieval fantasies, there is a strong Nicolas Ghequiere's Balanciaga influence. However, it isn't an obvious imitation because the sisters' signature techniques are at their best in this collection. The collage element of mixing texture and Digital prints is quiet exquisite. Fierce!
